MacBook Air Help

The Basic Idea

Many MacBook Air computers don’t have the processing power needed for Vohra Method group classes. Specifically, the chips they use do not have the power for background replacement!

Don’t worry - we have plenty of experience with this. Using your iPhone and/or iPad along with your MacBook, you’ll be able to have a world class, immersive educational experience at Vohra Method.

Step 1: Choose Your Video Device

Your iPhone or iPad actually have more processing power than your MacBook Air. So we’ll use them for video. If you have a newish iPad, use that for video. If not, use your iPhone.

Download Zoom on that device.

Step 2: Get Your Stand.

You’ll need a height adjustable stand that you can put behind your computer, not off to the side. The stand must be height adjustable and allows you to tilt your iPad or iPhone forward. This will allow you to stay centered on camera with your head flush with the top of the video (required in all Vohra Method group classes).

Here is an example of a stand that does work: https://www.amazon.com/Saiji-Adjustable-Rotating-Aluminum-4-7-12-9/dp/B07GR37JY1/

Step 3: Choose and Test Your Second Camera

In addition to the camera you use for Zoom, you’ll need a camera to take photos of your work. It cannot be the same camera. It can be an iPhone or iPad other than the one you use for video. It can also be the camera on your MacBook Air.

Step 4: For Your Next Computer, Consider Something More Powerful

MacBook Air computers are designed to be lightweight and have long battery life. This is accomplished by putting in very weak chips that just don’t use much electricity. The battery lasts longer because the processor doesn’t do much.

The weak processors also do not require cooling fans. Low power = low heat.

But that means they simply cannot do anything that requires serious processing power. They put you at a huge disadvantage compared to those who have more powerful computers.

Computers are your weapon of success. Computing power will help you obliterate the competition.

If you want a Mac laptop, get a MacBook Pro. If you want something that costs less, get a high end Windows laptop or desktop.
